what is the difference between the cds of OVO and OVO - The Millennium Show
Cimber 10 June 2010 at 6:35pm Posts: 2571 (0 today) Status: offline
- "OvO" : . . .features the art-work by German artist Nils Udo on the cover - the boy lying in the nest with green background. This artist already worked together with PG on the CD-ROM "EvE" (1996 or 97). The first track on this version is "The Story of OvO" feat. Neneh Cherry and Rosco. - "OvO - the Millenium Show" does not include "The Story of OvO" on the same CD, but therefore it is included on a bonus-CD (kinda CD-single) plus the "The Story of OvO" as a nice comic-story-booklet. This CD also includes an additional track called "The Tree that went on Top", which reminds me a bit of "It is accomlished" from "Passion". The booklet includes pics from the Millenium Dome in London and shots from the show, while "OvO" features some more shots/design by Nils Udo. The cover features a shot from the Millenium show (orange-blue cover).

. . . in addition, the story of OvO CD single is a male rapper, whereas the CD album version also features Neneh Cherry. . . I think - Climber?

. . .I gave a listen to that CD-single - can`t find the other green "OvO"-version here at this moment, but both - the male rapper Rosco and Neneh Cherry can be heard on both versions - also on the green/nest "OvO"-album, I think.

. . . I just dug out my "Story of OvO" CD single, and the version on it is "Rasco's Rap", which does not feature Neneh Cherry. . . anybody else got this version?
Cimber 12 June 2010 at 11:04pm Posts: 2571 (0 today) Status: offline
. . .hmmm - the CD-single I got has got the cartoon-figure of "OvO" as a cover (red background). On the back-cover all the musicians are listed with their names and instruments, plus also written: "The Story of OvO with OvO time lapse video".

I've got the 'Ovo the Milennium Show' which as Cimber says, has the additional cd/time lapse single which includes both Neneh Cherry and Rasco doing the rap. To be honest I have never listened to the single but the album is stunning! I tend to listen to the whole thing in one go and am always knocked out by its quality and spirit which is often ecstatic - and some really unusual sounds. Enjoy it Masternate61, whichever you buy.

. . .I'm really puzzled. . . has anyone else got the Rasco-only version of the single?
Cimber 28 August 2010 at 12:51pm Posts: 2571 (0 today) Status: offline
The question is, if the "Millenium Dome"-version is still available (red cover) - I was lucky to get that one in the shop, when the album came out. The regular "OvO"-album (green cover with nest) should be enough. To Mr. Beef: Does Rosco doing all rap-parts on that single including Neneh Cherry`s rap-parts ?
Mr Beef 28 August 2010 at 6:55pm Posts: 761 (0 today) Status: offline
Yep - it's just Rasco - PM me if you want to hear it
Duddy 28 August 2010 at 9:56pm Posts: 5641 (0 today) Status: offline
Really strange. There seem to be at least 4 different versions according to this site: http://www.discogs.com/Peter-Gabriel-OVO/master/66316 The only place I can find where just Rasco is mentioned for the rap is the Lunapendium site. A review of Ovo from the Genesis News Com only mentions 2: http://www.genesis-news.com/c-Peter-Gabriel-OVO-The-Millennium-Show-CD-review-s12.html

. . . I recall contacting Realworld at the time OvO was released because of the different versions that seemed to be available, and they admitted to being just as confused. . . :-]
