So I noticed on Amazon, that if you do a search for Peter Gabriel CDs they all say "discontinued by manufacturer," and some are going for big bucks brand new and sealed! Take a look here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_p_n_binding_browse-b_1?rh=n%3A5174%2Ck%3Apeter+gabriel%2Cp_n_binding_browse-bin%3A387645011&bbn=5174&keywords=peter+gabriel&ie=UTF8&qid=1270408985&rnid=387643011
I was surprised not to have heard any news that these 2002 remasters have gone out of print. Does anybody here know if we are getting a new series of Gabriel CD reissues or remasters?

Maybe I am wrong, but I think this may have sth. to do with the fact, that Peter Gabriel is no longer an artist of the label "geffen" (at least in the USA).

No, these reissues came out on Virgin records, replacing the Geffen and Atlantic and even Real World original issues.

There were 2 types of remastered discs, I believe-one limited edition paper, gatefold, and the regular jewel case one. The limited edition one might be causing the confusion, as they are now out of print.

Nope, they are all out of print. Copy and paste that link above in your browser and you will see anything of his catalog released in 2002 are "discontinued by the manufacturer."
The question is, are new versions coming.? These are all important catalog albums not only for Gabriel but rock history.

yeah, I really hope they are rereleased soon. Hybrid multi-ch./stereo SACD's would be best, but I guess not likely. PG could be the first major artist to use Bluray as a high-res music disc, as some have suggested it could be. I would LOVE that.
I was only lucky enough to get three or four of the 2002 SACD's. I bought up most of the albums on vinyl (2002) and some cd's from the Womad shop. I think the Japanese ones they sell are the 2002 remasters.
Scratch my back would be good for multi-ch., even if it was just a companion dvd with 5.1, like the Genesis sets.
But SOMETHING has to come out soon!

I've been searching for the remastered CDs, and not easy in Central Canada at all - I have #1, and when I went to see Pete in London I found #3 (my fave), but I'm desperately searching for #4. I won't just buy it on line, I love the sense of the hunt for these things. I glory every time I listen to #3 knowing I found it in a shop in Chelsea! sooo coool!

I have decided to list all my digipak 2002 on eBay as a lot. But what is unique about these is that they are all numbered '10.' I got them right from the label as a reviewer. Now that I have invested in the Classic Records vinyl versions, I am willing to let these go (I kept mp3s of course, so I have the option to burn to CD if need be, but I prefer the vinyl sound overall).
I have listed the lot of them for sale on eBay at a very low price, to let the collectors decide what they are worth in a fair, transparent way. Here's the link:

the strangest thing just happened. so i found a copy of plays live highlights limited edition in my local used store for only 4 bucks and i thought what the hell its limited. and i got it also it had a low number which i thought was cool.
and i was wondering how limited it was so i was trying to find out what the print run was(still havent found it if anyone knows) but the google search led me here.
and i saw your ebay listing. and guess what number my plays live is:
#10! very freaky i guess someone didn't care for the cut down version and sold that after winning your auction.

It's a shame guys!!!
I don't find the 3 album in any store. In fact, i've asked and all the people tell me that's out of print. And I don't understand why is the reason.
I think that Peter Gabriel could do something to change this situation. Also, this year is the 30th anniversary of 3 album, so it could be a great notice that the album (cd and other formats) 'll be reedited.
Peter, make my (us) day!

I would love to see Peter re-release the catalogue on Blu-ray Disc with high resolution stereo and surround mixes and perhaps corresponding videos, some live footage, etc., etc.
He seems keen on surround based on the liner notes of the "Play: The Videos" DVD and when you listen to the SACD titles you know he cares about quality - I mean listening to "I Grieve" on SACD is like having an out of body experience.
I think SACD and DVD-A ships have sailed though, Blu-ray would be an awesome way to re-release all the studio albums and I'd pre-order every single one of them.
So in high-rez surround? Makes me drool just thinking about it.

It's mainly card packaging instead of the jewel plastic casing. I only know because I looked it up.

But what about CANADA?
I can't believe that I might actually get to find the last few CDs I need. I thought technology was going to change and I'd have to go out and buy a new player and the music.
