Yesterday Lay Your Hands On Me came on my player, and hearing it for the thousandth time over the last twenty odd years, I suddenly noticed how similar it was to parts of Darkness - in places you could almost superimpose the two songs - both the lyrics and the music -
Scared of swimming in the sea
Dark shapes moving under me
Every fear I swallow makes me small
Inconsequential things occur
Alarms are triggered, memories stir
That's not the way it has to be.
Sat in the corner of the Garden Grill
Plastic flowers on the window sil
No more miracles, loaves and fishes
Been so busy with the washing of the dishes
Reaction level?s much too high
I can do without the stimuli
What struck me was the way that insight came so spontaneously after so many years of listening.

And the similarity continues
Walking through the undergrowth to the house in the woods
The deeper I go, the darker it gets
But still the warmth flows through me
And I sense you know me well
etc etc
