I would really like to get an MP3 of the different version of This Is the Picture/Excellent Birds as it appears in this video.

I have the Laurie Anderson anthology, but the version of Excellent Birds is different from the one that appears in the video - surely this other version must exist somewhere? I would love to properly hear it.

Forgot to mention - I've checked on iTunes and only the same version is available. I hate it when this happens!
I guess that was a single remix?

Thanks for the link, Alex.
This version sounds quite good, SO actually I like to have it too !
I`ve got the Laurie Anderson-album from that time, on which Peter can also be heard on "Gravity`s Angel" - I like both tracks very much.
Just by watching this "video" version, I realize that this "mix" sounds like a "musical bridge", a musical developement of the song from the "Laurie Anderson-album-version" to Peter`s final version on "So",featuring funk-god Nile Rodgers (Chic) and some bridge guitars.
You can hear Peter developing and adding new and other elements, it shows and reflects Peter`s creative process. All 3 versions are GREAT !
The song was already played live, before it appeared later on the Laurie Anderson-LP, I believe.
And don`t forget the LIVE-version from the world tour `86/`87 ! SADLY TOO SHORT - even cut off - on the "POV-film" !
"peter gabriel - spectrum" - search for it on youtube -
in this concert from Philadelphia 1987 the funkiest and most chilling performances of "Big Time" and of course "This is the Picture" can be heard, it is for me a PURE JOY to watch the Gabriel-band !

Yes, it is a great shame that "Picture" was cut from the POV film. Personally I would like to see an unedited, full version of that concert without the intersected video footage.
At least there are good versions out there on YouTube, and also tracks like "Bigtime" and "Red Rain", which sounded great - looking back although I really like the POV film, I'm not so sure it fully represents the tour from that time, being so heavily edited.

"POV" has got too much "clip-like" material -
For me the only true live concert-film is "Spectrum" -
Both should be/could be released as a "double live-DVD"-
Disc 1 : "P.O.V" - the film, Live from Athens 1987
Disc 2 : "Spectrum" - Live Philadelphia 1987
(youtube.com : search for "peter gabriel spectrum"
This(is the Picture)!
