Anybody seen a comprehensive review of the Encore Series? I would appreciate hearing from members who own a collectors box. As a man of modest means, please specify ?must own? performances. I currently own two, and recently ordered two more. Holmdel, NJ (06.20.03) has a scorching performance of Shock the Monkey and contains The Tower that Ate People. I do not recall why I ordered that one. My friend attended Clarkston, MI (06.29.03). Reportedly, Peter played an acoustic version of Here Comes the Flood during technical difficulties stopped Solsbury Hill. My second purchase was Hamburg, DE (19/06/07). In a quick comparison of set lists, this one seemed to have the best. Additionally, Tony?s Tour Diary suggests that the group hit its stride at this show. No Self Control is amazing, and Peter sang Family Snapshot in German.

i purchased the 11/08/07 skanderborg, denmark version. i haven't been able to listen to anything else all week. the sound quality, playlist & musicianship is amazing! only con is that "red rain" isn't on the album. would be nice to see the playlists per title.

I'd also be interested in recommendations for single shows as I'd like to get about 2 titles of each tour and the shows should have something special to it.
Thank you very much for your help!

I think Chile in March of 2009 is the single greatest Gabriel show I have ever heard, from '77 to now.

Why are there videos from Chile on youtube but no Encore cd offered for that concert?? Was the Chile show offered only in the collector's edition?

I wasn't at the show, but I heard the Encore Series recording. It's just high energy, tight band, and a great selection of songs. Gabriel will often have a "technical fuck up" and start the song again; this happens during Games Without Frontiers but it's just different. They launch into the song with a vengeance and give the best performance of the song I've ever heard (purely personal opinion, of course). He also does a great version of Wallflower (!) with a Chilean (I'm guessing) guest, who sounds like he's on classical guitar or mandolin (sorry, my ears aren't that good at picking out instruments). Do yourself a favor and get this show - there's an electricity in the air that you can feel.

Thank you very much Mozo79 for showing me that the Encore Series can also be ordered in the WomadShop. (I didn't know that before.)

thanks for the tip on the Chilean show, i just ordered it.
Have four of the 2007, one of 2004 and a few from 2003 and I do enjoy these live shows, they sound excellent and was in the mood to hear on of the 2009 shows, so starting with this one.
