Thirteen years on from 1990’s Shaking The Tree compilation, Hit offers a much more voluminous overview of the Gabriel back catalogue. As its title suggests, all of Peter’s chartbusting anthems are included, as are very many other choice moments from an illustrious, then-26-year solo career. His most recent album at the time, UP, released the previous September, is well represented (The Drop, Growing Up, I Grieve…), while Hit pulls the covers off one new song – Burn You Up, Burn You Down.

The perfect way for a novice listener to become conversant with the seven ages of Gabriel.
