Peter receives Doctorate


On the eve of the 23rd WOMADelaide Festival Peter has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from the University of South Australia.

The University has honoured Peter as the co-founder of WOMAD and champion for world music and culture and in recognition of his commitment to creativity and its transformational power in building peace and understanding.

On conferring the Honorary Doctorate to Peter, the UniSA Vice Chancellor Professor David Lloyd said: “The University is so proud to welcome him as an Honorary Doctor and we believe the example of his work and life will be an inspiration for many of our students and graduates.”

In return, on accepting his award, Peter addressed his fellow 2015 graduates with the words “I’m sure you’re not going to be deterred by any obstacles and will blitz your way into the world and make a difference wherever you go.”
