Newly-restored Secret World Live to be released July 16th (24th US)

"Secret World Live", the outstanding Grammy Award winning film from 1994 is now to be re-released. The new version allows the original film to be seen and heard in the best possible quality on DVD / Blu-ray. Filmed in Modena, Italy across two nights in November 1993 as part of Peter Gabriel's acclaimed "Secret World Live" tour in support of the "Us" album, the show is elaborately presented and choreographed with two stages joined by a narrow moving walkway. The line-up for this show featured Peter Gabriel (vocals, keyboards); Manu Katche (drums); Tony Levin (bass, vocals); David Rhodes (guitar, vocals); Jean Claude Naimro (keyboards, vocals); Paula Cole (vocals); Shankar (violin, vocals); Levon Minassian (doudouk) with guests Papa Wemba and Molokai.

The original 16mm film negatives were repaired / cleaned and scanned (at super 2K) to a file sequence for mastering and restoration. The 2K sequence is the resolution we view in cinemas, and as such, the concert is now available in high definition without compromise. Once scanned, the footage digitally restored and graded (by award winning colourist Ray King) to allow fans to view the concert as never been seen before.

A slew of great Bonus Features are also included. "Red Rain" was not included in the original film, this is now included as an extra for the first time. We also offer Timelapse film of the complex stage set up, plus a featurette on the making of the "Secret World Live" film including interviews and behind the scenes footage. Additionally, there's a newly restored photomontage slideshow to the remixed "Quiet" version of "Steam" and, finally, "The Rhythm Of The Heat" orchestral version from the "New Blood: Live In London" show.

5 - 4 - 3...Peter's Full Moon Update

Peter's Full Moon Update is out there somewhere but we haven't quite managed to get a transporter lock on all it's parts - either the cold atmospheric conditions of this, the last full moon of winter or the massive amount of solar particles passing through our coordinates as a result of the recent coronal mass ejection (CME) could be to blame. Either way we'll keep wrestling with the controls and bring it to you as soon as possible.

Peter's response to 'Sledgehammer' on the Rush Limbaugh show

Peter Gabriel has asked that this response be published when he found out that his track 'Sledgehammer' has been used on the Rush Limbaugh show:

'Peter was appalled to learn that his music was linked to Rush Limbaugh's extraordinary attack on Sandra Fluke. It is obvious from anyone that knows Peter's work that he would never approve such a use. He has asked his representatives to make sure his music is withdrawn and especially from these unfair aggressive and ignorant comments. '

For more than three decades, Chevron has chosen profit over people.

While drilling for oil in Ecuador's Amazon rainforest region, Texaco - which merged with Chevron in 2001 - operated without concern for the environment or local residents. The company deliberately dumped billions of gallons of toxic wastewater into rivers and streams, spilled millions of gallons of crude oil, and abandoned hazardous waste in hundreds of unlined open-air pits littered throughout the region. The result is widespread devastation of the rainforest ecosystem and local indigenous communities, and one of the worst environmental disasters in history.

Due to Chevron's toxic contamination of their soil, rivers and streams, and groundwater, local indigenous and campesino communities continue to suffer an epidemic of cancer, birth defects, miscarriages, and other ailments. Chevron has never carried out a meaningful clean up of the mess it is responsible for, and its infrastructure continues to poison the communities of the Ecuadorian Amazon.

In February 2011, after an 18 year-long David vs. Goliath battle for justice, local people won a judgment against Chevron, with the court in Ecuador ordering the company to pay more than $9 billion to clean up widespread pollution, and provide potable water and health care for affected communities. Unfortunately, while people in the area continue to suffer and die from cancer and other oil-related illness, Chevron has declared that it will fight to avoid paying to clean up its mess "until hell freezes over."

Since 2002, Amazon Watch and our Clean Up Ecuador Campaign has been working with shareholders, consumers, and other concerned people to support justice for the communities of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
