"Very sadly, my Father died on Friday 9th November. I will miss him enormously. This is a song I wrote for him."

Conceived by Peter and developed by Real World Studios in partnership with Great Fridays, Gabble traverses the traditional boundaries of language. Unique, fun and free, Gabble gives everyone the opportunity to chat with friends old and new by creating whole sentences from a huge library of images, animations and illustrations. Start a conversation and who knows how far and wide it could go...
"I'm convinced we will soon learn to use multimedia as a basic tool for person-to-person communication," says Peter, "which is why our idea was to create a universal visual language that replaces words and phrases."

Every Gabble user - or Gabbler - has access to a central library of still and moving images to use in conversations and get their message across. The possibilities are endless - from friends and family who just want a chat with a difference to a clever translation tool that helps people who don't share a common language.
To be in with a chance of winning a signed So box set, head on over to the 'So... Gabble' competition page. If your gabble is in the top three highest number of likes on the last day of the competition, you'll win a box set.

Recreate your own stop-motion scene from the iconic 'Sledgehammer' video using the 'Grab Your Sledgehammer' App on Peter's Facebook page. The app allows you to pick a scene from the music video, record a re-creation or upload an existing YouTube clip and vote for the best submissions.
The most liked submission will get their hands on a TDKperformance Wireless Boombox & limited edition signed Peter Gabriel artwork. The top 30 runners up will get a 'Sledgehammer' poster.
In October 1987 the worldwide tour of 'So' arrived in the elevated surroundings of the hillside open-air theatre at Lykabetos, overlooking Athens. Recorded and filmed over three nights, the Athens shows provide a fascinating document of those heady times.
In 2012, 25 years later, producer Ben Findlay was given the assignment to restore and remix the audio recorded at Athens. Simultaneously, 150 reels of original 35mm film negatives have also undergone months of painstaking scanning, restoration and editing work.
After 25 years Peter Gabriel wanted to see if the archives held enough material to recreate the full 1987 concert experience. Ben was tasked with sifting through all the original analog multi-track tapes, making the transfers of the audio to the digital world and, if it existed, mixing the relevant material - using all the digital world can bring to get the best out of the original analog recordings.
In an interview with Society of Sound, Ben Findlay explains the process. Society of Sound members have the opportunity to download selected tracks from the concert in 24 bit studio quality, available for a limited time until November 6th.
Amidst his busy touring schedule of the US, Peter found time to drop in at Google HQ to discuss his recent work.

NPR's All Songs Considered caught up with Peter on the closing night of the 'Back To Front' tour and got him to share some of his favourite tracks as their Guest DJ. Peter chooses music by The Beatles, soul legend Otis Redding and the inimitable Nina Simone.
During the latter half of the show you can also hear some of the remastered 'So' tracks featured on the upcoming 25th anniversary boxset, including a snippet of Red Rain from 'So DNA'.
Peter Gabriel's engineer, Richard 'Dickie' Chappell, explains the thinking behind the 'So DNA' disc included in the Anniversary edition box set.
Digging into the archives Peter and Dickie found many different versions of the material that eventually appeared on So. Peter decided to include some of the extracts from early cassettes and half inch tapes when ideas were being formed. Track by track the songs unfold from their early beginnings to the full production. Dickie explains this painstaking archiving process and goes on to talk about the three exclusive songs on the 12" vinyl included in the box set. 'Segarada', 'Courage' and 'Don't Give Up (alternative version)' all have a place in the history of 'So' and Dickie tells us why.
The Voice Project, one of whose founders is Peter's daughter Anna, need your help in gaining a $50,000 grant that will help support their initiatives.
For over two decades war ravaged northern Uganda. It is Africa's longest running conflict and it has spread to South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic. The women of northern Uganda - widows, rape survivors, and former abductees have been banding together in groups to support each other.
Taking their cue from these women The Voice Project began with one artist covering another to pass on the torch and message to others. They have created ongoing chains of songs and artists that use music to help raise awareness and drive donations to their website to support local initiatives and amplify peace, reconciliation and rehabilitation efforts. Above you can listen to Peter's contribution to The Voice Project and the incredible chain of communication started by the women of Uganda with his cover of "beautiful piece of writing" by Tom Waits.
Check out The Voice Project programs page to learn more about how they are making a difference on the ground.
Peter recently sat down with Johnnie Walker from BBC Radio 2 to talk about his 1986 landmark album, So. This special edition of Johnnie Walker's Longplayers will be broadcast on Radio 2 on the 2nd Oct at 10pm (BST).
Peter describes the creation of the songs, and how his approach differed from the earlier albums. He plays some of the early demo versions and tracks that didn't make it onto the final release, discusses his live work and highlights the freedom that the success of So gave him.

Jennie Abrahamson and Linnea Olsson have stepped in as support act for the current 'So' Back To Front tour dates. It was a great blow to have Ane Brun, who was originally scheduled to perform, withdraw from the tour due to illness and we wish her well and a speedy recovery.
Jennie accompanied by 'cellist Linnea have delighted audiences at the opening of the shows and later as backing vocalists in Peter's set. Jennie performs Don't Give Up with Peter. Jennie lives in Stockholm, Sweden, but is originally from further up north, a tiny place called Sävar just outside of the coastal town of Umeå. A place known for breeding bands and artists in the line of "northern melancholy", Jennie only kept a slight tint of that moodiness in her richly coloured and playful pop tunes. Critics have called her a "younger, more accessible Kate Bush".
Peter Gabriel's seminal 1986 video for Sledgehammer can now be viewed in high definition for the first time. A new transfer from the original 16mm negative is now available to watch now.
Sledgehammer was directed by Stephen R. Johnson, produced by Adam Whittaker and animated by Aardman Animations and the Brothers Quay.
With the tour now in full swing go to Peter's official Facebook page to win tickets & soundcheck access for the shows in Boston, Denver, CO, and Santa Barbara, CA

It's a great feeling to finally have the first Back To Front show under our belts. The amazingly vocal audience in Quebec City got us off to a great start - even though they got to see the show's teething problems when a system crash meant the set order had to rearrange on the fly, we can't thank them enough for the reception we were given. The first show wouldn't be the first without a F***-up or two.
The first load-out of the tour saw the crew working well into the night, feeding the trucks that waited outside - now, already in Montreal, Back To Front is really a tour and we're looking forward to putting on the show on Tuesday - is a Montreal audience as loud as one in Quebec City - we hope so.
