It's short and sweet this month as Peter comes live and direct from Air Studios.
Peter has donated a handwritten sheet of the lyrics from 'Biko' to the True Colors Fund Summer Online Auction.
The True Colors Fund, the philanthropic arm of the True Colors Tour co-founded by Cyndi Lauper, seeks to strengthen the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (GLBT) and allied community by growing the number of volunteers and donors to the non-profit organizations working on their behalf at the national, state and local levels in the U.S.A.
You may have heard Peter talking in his most recent video update about some inspirational images featuring objects that can be seen as faces. Peter knew the images from one of his favourite books, then came face to face with them in the Pentagram offices.
The images are by by Jean Edouard Robert, who worked in their London office on 'Pentagram Papers 4: Face to Face', which was designed by John McConnell and published in 1977
You can now see some of the images over on the Pentagram site.
Peter Gabriel will be performing on Saturday 25th July at WOMAD Charlton Park. A limited number of day tickets are now available.
"This will be my only show in Europe this year, and I am delighted it will be for Witness.org. I had no plans to play in the UK but when Festival Director, Chris Smith, heard I was looking for a suitable event, he generously offered the Saturday at WOMAD. We are trying to raise £100,000 for Witness." (Peter Gabriel on his performance at WOMAD 2009)
Support Witness by coming to see Peter Gabriel. Day and Weekend tickets for the event, which includes a mesmerising line-up of performers, playing, singing, cooking, dancing and entertaining, bringing the English countryside alive in myriad ways, are available.
June's Full Moon finds The Wrting Room a hive of activity around the 'Scratch My Back' project. Peter tells us that "You may be hearing it sooner than never and sooner than I normally mean when I say sooner" We also hear about a meeting of The Elders in The Atlas mountains, ideas for cooling the brain with Heath Robinson like ingenuity - does a cool head lead to quicker thinking? There's been an productive strategy meeting for Witness in London and Peter tells us that his drive to raise funds for the organization should see another live show from him in Europe this summer or later in the autumn. We also hear news of a fantastic project to build a new arts/performance centre for the Zawose Family in Bagamoyo and Peter gets in a plug for Real World Records releases by Spiro, Dub Colossus and Dengue Fever and music from Charlie Winston on The B&W Society of Sound.
Donate to WITNESS before June 5 and your gift will be tripled up to $30,000.
Visit WITNESS and see how your gift directly supports the use of video to promote women's rights in Zimbabwe, Yemen and Mexico to make the world a safer place.
You may have heard Peter Gabriel talking about Charlie Winston's success in France over the past months. This month he is the featured artist over on The B&W Society of Sound, so even if you haven't been lucky enough to be enjoying spring in Paris, you can now check him out for yourself.

"A stunning album ... really atmospheric." Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music.
Peter Gabriel is being awarded the Polar Music Prize 2009 for his ground-breaking, outward-looking and boundary-busting artistry. As a composer, artist and person, Peter Gabriel has not only had a significant influence on the development of popular music - he has redefined the very concept. Peter Gabriel does more than just intertwine music, voice and images - his music is at once a megaphone for the global society and its most unflinching critic. Peter Gabriel's artistry presents us with world music in its most meaningful sense.
Peter will begin a three day water-only fast tommorow
For those of you not on the mailing list, the latest Real World Records newsletter is now available to read on-line.
Peter talks about progress on his 'scratch my back' covers project, with Bob Ezrin and John Metcalf both in the studio to work on the project. We get a report on the success of the recent WOMAD Abu Dhabi where Robert Plant made a special guest appearance with Justin Adams and Juldeh Camera whose new Real World Records release Tell No Lies is out on May 11th.
Peter gives a mention to the many Real World Records artists are to be found playing live at venues around the world in the coming months, amongst whom is Mamer, a singer/songwriter who was raised in Xinjiang, one of ten children for whom singing and playing the two-string dombra lute was as much a part of life as sunrise.
